KRIPALU YOGA

Kripalu Yoga, a form of hatha yoga, is a practice of entering the sanctuary of the body to quiet the restlessness of the mind. Kripalu Yoga was named in loving honor of Swami Shri Kripalvanandji, an enlightened master who with his disciples spread the knowledge of Yoga to the United States in the early 1970's. Kripalu Yoga integrates the feminine and masculine qualities of the mind, body and spirit and balances the physical, emotional and mental tensions held in the body. A regular Yoga practice can reduce stress/anxiety and enhance one's sense of well-being by improving flexibility, strength and breathing capacity.

Yoga unites the mind, body and spirit by performing breathing practices, postures and relaxation exercises. Yoga or "Yuk" means union in the Sanskrit language and literally means union of the Self. Yoga promotes flexibility in the spine/back, increases circulation in the joints, stimulates the internal organs for digestion, respiration and the reproductive systems and reduces blood pressure. The ultimate goal is to learn to be in one's body — one's divine temple — and to experience a new sense of self-awareness and a rejuvenated mind, body and spirit. A relaxed state of mind is just one of the positive results of practicing Yoga.
